Plantar fasciitis (PLAN-tur fas-e-I-tis) is one of the most common causes of heel pain. It involves inflammation of a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of your foot and connects your heel bone to your toes (plantar fascia). Plantar fasciitis commonly causes stabbing pain that usually occurs with your first steps in the morning. As you get up and move, the pain normally decreases, but it might return after long periods of standing or when you stand up after sitting. Plantar fasciitis is more common in runners. People who are overweight and those who wear shoes with inadequate support also have an increased risk of plantar fasciitis.

What’s the difference between a dorsal night splint vs. boot night splint?
The Dorsal splint has a hard plastic support that rides along the shin and top of the foot to keep the foot firmly in a 90-degree angle, while leaving the heel and arch free to breathe and the Boot splint looks just as it sounds. The spine of the brace is on the back of the leg and calf and runs under the foot. It is generally a larger brace than the dorsal style.
What is the purpose of the foam wedge?
The Ossur Formfit Night Splint Foam Wedge Accessory is intended for use with the FormFit Night Splint. The product consists of a thin pie-shaped wedge which places your foot in an even greater degree of stretch compared to using the normal straps on the side of the splint itself. The wedge acts as a toe dorsiflexion wedge that can be inserted between the foam pad and the shell to increase the amount of stretch to your arch.
